AIN 5000  Integrating Brain, Body and Heart Intelligence

Friday, Nov. 14, 6–9pm; Sat. & Sun., Nov. 15 & 16, 9am–6pm

$350/20 CECs or $1000/2 quarter units

This course will introduce participants to developmental neurobiology across the life span, how human development, behavior and growth stem from a well-regulated, optimally functioning brain and nervous system. Using movement, mindfulness meditation, reflective writing and group work, we will explore an integrated framework (theory, research, practice) for human development, as reflected in the stages of brain development and the emergent knowledge of brain plasticity. Participants will learn skills for rebalancing and enhancing the central and autonomic nervous system pathways, including mindful listening, mirroring and feedback, stress reduction techniques, calming/activating/centering movements, ultradian breathwork and active imagination.

Tim Burns, M.A., is an educator and author whose background includes over 30 years of experience as high school teacher and counselor, First Offender Program facilitator, adolescent and family drug treatment program director, therapist, and university instructor. He is the author of three books and numerous self-published resource manuals. Tim holds a black-belt in Aikido.
